What a whirlwind this Holiday season has been, I promised myself I would relax and truly enjoy it this year instead of being the perpetual hostess and running around like a chicken with my head cut off as is typically the case. I stayed true to my word and I took my own advice from my stress free Holiday post. I downsized my gathering,I said No, I cheated and bought store bought lasagna, and easy bagged salads, I dressed up a store bought cheesecake and spent all the time I saved with my family. Things still got hectic, as hard as I tried to keep everything low key, our daughter still became easily over stimulated and we probably could have toned things down even more for her benefit.
But then again Christmas is supposed to be an exciting time. I just wanted to enjoy this time and take it all in and watch my daughter take it all in. The best part of parenting at Christmas is seeing the wonder and amazement in your child’s eyes. This Christmas has been extra special… its Livi’s first Christmas home with us, our first Christmas as parents, finally not waiting, not wanting, not wishing.. but being truly thankful and content with all we have. I hope you all had an Amazing Holiday.
Some of the Highlights
Getting her out of her crib on Christmas morning and feeling so excited for her to open her gifts
Watching her getting the hang of the whole opening presents thing
Seeing her give her Grandpa a spontaneous hug for the first time, and watching him melt
Bringing her to our bed on Christmas Eve and feeling content and blessed that she is the best gift I have ever received.
Being the parents leaving the Christmas party with a wild screaming teething toddler and thinking to ourselves what a difference a year makes.
Watching her play with the new toys and playing with them myself.
