Here is an informative article on Post Adoption Depression, a
topic that I posted on several weeks back. That particular post generated a ton of comments, and you know how we bloggers love our comments. I was encouraged to read and participate in the dialogue. This is a serious issue and one that must be brought out into the open.
This article really does make me wonder though about the so-called biology of postpartum depression. When I was still single and childfree, I wondered allowed to a friend who was a new mother, whether postpartum depression was simply the realization that being a new parent can be pretty lousy for a pretty long time. That led to a lengthy discussion without any kind of resolution. This article makes me revisit that question.

Could it be that the medical/biological explanation for postpartum depression was the only way to destigmatize it? The reason I ask is because if that is true, it does not bode very well for removing the stigma of Post Adoption Depression. That returns me to my discussion in the previous post. Could it be that hormones still play a role in Post Adoption Depression? Perhaps articles such as this one will encourage a discussion of the social influences that contribute to depression in new mothers period.
