		<description>I guess I get why adoptive parents so often say they are color blind. It is scary, though. My usual response is, &quot;You&#039;d better not be!&quot;  Do people really think that the African American experience is the same as the Caucasian American experience?  Or the Native American experience, or Asian American, Hispanic American, etc?  It just isn&#039;t.  I think that honoring someone for who they are, including their race, is a huge part of raising children.  Telling a child you don&#039;t see their race is an awful lot like telling them you don&#039;t see THEM.  That&#039;s a very big deal in my opinion.</description>
