We all know that November is National Adoption Month, but did you know that Saturday November 18th is National Adoption Day?. This is a day to celebrate adoption. Adoption has blessed my life in numerous ways. Its been an amazing journey and Im not sure our adoption journey is over.Who knows what the future holds. As I go about my day on Saturday,I will smile knowing that families are being created and dreams are coming true. That is a wonderful thing. Its a day to celebrate all who have been touched by adoption. The website I linked you up to has some amazing links if you are interested in learning more about adoption and foster care. Congratulations to the Families & Children becoming forever families this Saturday.

ABOUT NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY
National Adoption Day is a collective national effort to raise awareness of the 114,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families. For the last six years, National Adoption Day has made the dreams of thousands of children come true by working with courts, judges, attorneys, and advocates to finalize adoptions and find permanent, loving homes for children in foster care.

National Adoption Day is celebrated every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. In 2005, judges, attorneys, adoption professionals, child welfare agencies and advocates in 45 states and the District of Columbia helped to finalize the adoptions of more than 3,100 children from foster care. That year, 227 events were held throughout the country to finalize adoptions and to celebrate all families who adopt”

On National Adoption Day 2006 – Saturday, November 18 – an unprecedented number of courts and communities coast-to-coast will come together to finalize thousands of adoptions of children from foster care and to celebrate all families who adopt. The day will bring together hundreds of judges, attorneys, adoption professionals, and child advocates who are dedicated to creating forever families for waiting children.

Goals of National Adoption Day 2006
· Finalize adoptions from foster care in all 50 states
· Celebrate and honor all families that adopt
· Raise awareness about the 114,000 children in foster care waiting for adoption
· Encourage others to adopt children from foster care
· Build collaboration among local adoption agencies, courts and advocacy organizations
· Through research, learn more about families wanting to adopt and the children waiting to be adopted, with the goal of finding more permanent, loving homes for children in foster care.
