heart cupcakeWe spent lots of time at our house this evening working on making up Valentine’s Day cards for the kids to share with their classmates at school tomorrow. Some of the kids are excited about having parties even; we put together cookies and candies for those. Others of the kids helped me put together a little Valentine’s Day gift for my husband (a “date in a box” – new DVD and his favorite snacks; we can have a “date night in the other room” some night, soon hopefully. Beats getting a sitter and hoping the kids behave while we’re gone!)

After all of our preparations, I wasn’t really in the mood for much serious reflection on the Valentine’s Day subject. Instead, I chose to spend time looking for things that made me laugh. I’ll share a few of them with you and hope that they brighten up your Valentine’s Day just a little!

  1. I don’t understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine’s Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon. ~Author Unknown
  2. You have to walk carefully in the beginning of love; the running across fields into your lover’s arms can only come later when you’re sure they won’t laugh if you trip. ~Jonathan Carroll, “Outside the Dog Museum”
  3. We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love. ~Author Unknown
  4. If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? ~Author Unknown
  5. The sincerest love is the love of food. -Bernard Shaw
  6. Love and Death: Movie Love Quotes
To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering, one must not love; but then one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer, not to love is to suffer, to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love; to be happy then is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy; therefore to be unhappy one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness. I hope you’re getting this down.

Seriously, I do hope that you all have a great Valentine’s Day! Remember to take every chance you can to tell your loved ones how you feel. Our kids grow up too fast…..WE grow up too fast….don’t let moments to share your love pass on by. Have a wonderful day!
