My best vacation advice ( for kids any age) is to try to get a hotel, condo or small house with a small kitchen.

We also try to stay somewhere that has a small play area and a grocery store close by.

I don`t like living on the road and having a small kitchen makes all the difference.
If you have not read the book "What's Going on in There" by Lise Eliot, I highly recommend it for giving you a better feel for what she might remember and for lots of other wonderful information. It is an awesome book, although I do skim over some of the more medical explanations of how hearing, eye sight, memory, etc. work physically. It is written for parents though. Good luck on the vacation. I think doing a shorter, smaller vacation closer to home for the first one is a good way to start.

I think your concerns are valid, and easing her into a family vacations sounds like a good approach.

We crammed 3 big family vacations a 6-month period - NYC for Txgiving, my 10th college reunion and a family cruise.

Our toddler (adopted domestically as a newborn) did great in all - but my favorite was the cruise. We were able to maintain a routine and he loved the kiddie pool.

Enjoy your vacation!

What about an indoor waterpark. She loves the water and it would be a "fun" hotel since it is attached. They are close also.

And I think she can remember the hotel in Russia. There hasn't been enough time in between yet. There are still some things Jaclyn remembers about DW and she was 2 at that time.

Have fun!
We took Eli (2, Guatemala) on his first vacation over spring break. We saw the mouse and took the cruise as well. We were on Disney overload for a week. Eli did great. DW was probably a little overwhelming b/c it was soooo crowded but as long as his family was in his sights he did just fine. We still took naps in the middle of the day. (Easier to do on the cruise then at the park). We ate regular meals and tried not to do any dawn to dusk power days. But 4 days at DW is a lot for anyone to handle. The cruise was the best b/c you do what you wanna do when you wanna do it. It was very relaxing. We just had to have the right paperwork for him to leave the country. All very worth it. He loved Mickey, stich and anything Cars related. He even liked some of the rides. I say go for it.
