I am two!
Can you believe that it is already that time again? It is time to write our semi-annual Dear Birth Mom letter and update. The months seem to fly by unbelievably fast and it has already been six months since our last update. Our darling daughter has just turned two years old. It seems like just yesterday I was rushing to Texas to meet her for the first time. Now, she is the one rushing, in every direction at once most of the time. She has been transformed from an enchanting little baby to a beautiful little girl in two years.
Dear Birth Mom,
Now that Amigrace has turned two, it is obvious that she has inherited your tall, lean, and muscular build. At her two-year-old checkup, she ranked in the ninetieth percentile for height, but only the seventy-fifth for weight. She can run faster than children twice her age can run, throw, and kick a ball farther as well. She enjoys swinging as high as she can go. When the swing begins to slow, she starts saying, “Push, push.” Ami dances whenever she hears music, including a car seat dance that she does while riding.
Ami has eyelashes that are so long they almost reach her eyebrows. Her eyes are one of the first things people notice about her, until they discover her personality. She is outgoing, adventurous, and friendly. While shopping, she usually greats most people who pass by with a “Hi,” and a wave. If someone ignores her, she will usually repeat herself in a louder voice.
She enjoys helping me feed the horses each day and recently began asking to sit on a horse each time we feed them. She really seems to love all animals and frequently snuggles one of the cats or one of the dogs. She even makes sure that she hugs each of the horses when she greets them. She loves to pick flowers and smell them on the way to the barn.
We are working on learning colors, counting, drawing (animals of course), and potty training. Ironically, she is afraid of the tractors and bobcat and always says an emphatic, “NO,” when daddy asks if she wants a ride. One of the funniest things she has said recently involved a tomato plant. She has been enjoying the Veggie Tale movies lately and there is a tomato character named Bob. Ami walked up to the tomato plant that had a large green tomato growing on it. She looked at it for a minute, then pointed and said, “Look, Bob.” We all had a good laugh over that.
We pray that this letter finds you in good health. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you change your mind about having a closed adoption.
