Summer is long gone, its snowy here and we are now stuck inside most days. I put together a list of cabin fever activities to share.
Rotate your child’s toys & books- bring out new stuff every month
( Especially great for books & puzzles)
Finger Paint with Pudding
Make a Cheerio necklace- with yarn or a new shoelace, allow your toddler to thread the cheerios on the yarn and nibble them off. Any cereal with a hole works
Set up a tent indoors…camp out & read stories in the tent
Fill a low shallow container with several types of dried beans (navy/kidney/pinto)… allow your child to spoon pour into various size household containers. Provide measuring spoons, small pitcher, bowls and cups.( supervision a must) My daughter loves playing with her beans.
Snow ice cream
Bubbles….blow bubbles indoors & help your child to pop them or
make your own bubbles
Make Homemade playdough
Make a rigatoni necklace- great for eye/hand coordination; your child can paint the dried pasta before hand.
Make cookies together.
Have a Dance Party….. We love Laurie Berkner’s Music
Have a tea party- dress up & talk in an English accent
Bring out something new…. One of Mommy’s old purses filled with fun stuff to play with… a pair of gloves, an old compact, an old watch, an old set of keys.
Make a rainy day box- fill in with dollar store fun stuff… bubbles/pinwheels/treats & pull out the box during a rough or especially boring day.
For older kids… my nieces loved this rainy day game we called “tasters choice”… put on a blindfold and give them a small taste of a food from the fridge or cupboard and they guess what it is… peanut butter/jam/chocolate sauce/pickle juice or any sweet or sour taste was always popular. They have to guess what it is
Have backwards day- have breakfast for dinner, have pizza for breakfast.
