World Water Day is March 22 of each year as designated by the United Nations. Drawing attention to the conservation and development of water resources is the overall objective. Advocacy, publication, and organization of conferences with the year’s chosen theme is how they hope to increase public awareness. This year’s theme is “Sanitation.” The U.N. hopes to attract international attention to conservation and development of water resources through this yearly ritual.

The steps you need to take to protect your adopted child from sexual predators are similar to the steps taken to protect any child. However, there are some additional safeguards you should put into place to protect an adopted child from sexual predators.

1. Talk to your child about sexual predators.

It is hard to take away some of your child’s innocence by making him aware that there are “bad people” in the world. Unfortunately, you must take this step to protect your child. If... more

It's the middle of summer, and unless you are fortunate enough to have year round schooling, you're in the middle of summer vacation and probably praying for school to start again.

To add a little levity, here are some dumb laws about children that should make you laugh.

It’s that time of year again. This year we are older and wiser. Last summer my daughter was still falling often and not quite tall enough for most playground equipment. I expect that because my daughter is older and steadier on her feet that this summer will be a real hoot.

1.Come Prepared- sun block, a change of clothes, snacks and water. I’m always stunned when I see Moms come unprepared to the playground and they spend a few hours playing. I envy that type of spontaneous parenting but I can’t leave home without my bag of just in case... more

I have been blogging for well over a year now on my personal blog and since September on this fine site… it all started by becoming a fan of several blogs. I would see links to blogs on forums and quickly added many to my bookmarks and made some bloggy friends along the way. Starting out I decided it would be a good way to keep family & friends informed of our adoption process, thinking it would limit the “ hear anything yet” comments. In the beginning my blog was private, but as I got more & more involved in the blogging world I opened it up to anyone.

So often, we read about the heartbreaking stories of a newborn baby left for dead, or even killed, by a frightened, desperate, unprepared, immature, parent. When that happens in a community there is a big push to remind everyone about the Safe Haven laws that are in place to protect against this kind of horrible crime. There are a lot of differing opinions on the value and the utility of Safe Haven laws and whether or not they even accomplish their intended purpose.
