My Baby turns two on Friday. This will be the first birthday we get to celebrate with her.I can’t tell you how excited I am. I may be just a teeny tiny, eensy weensy, little bit living vicariously through her. About 25 people will be coming over to our humble bungalow on Saturday to celebrate. That’s if everyone invited shows up. This party business is work let me tell you. There is cleaning, shopping, baking, list making, goody bag making… Oh My. I have lists upon lists. Even my lists have lists. I have to dig out & clean the punch bowl for the princess... more

Love Thursday- 1st Halloween

We had a great Halloween. Livi totally enjoyed her trick-or-treating experience. She is not even two years old yet but she quickly got the concept. I go and knock on the door and they give me candy...cool beans. After every house she would run to me saying,“ Yeah I did it” and on and on we went. We did the whole street and it’s a long street. I think she would have trick or treated until she passed out. She wore a warm cow costume and we could see the heavy cow head bob & weave as she toddled from house to house getting tired but not willing to... more

Happy Halloween

I love Halloween. I love walking in the fall leaves, the Caramel apples, carving pumpkins and toasting pumpkin seeds. I can recall every costume I ever wore; I fondly remember my first store bought costume. It was Scooby-doo. My Mom picked it out for me and I remember she came home and gave it to me. A store bought costume was a big deal as I typically wore some homemade creation of my grandmothers.

Pink footy Pjs were transformed into a pink bunny rabbit with a cotton ball on the butt and ears on a headband. I still felt like I was... more

birthday

I’m in the midst of planning a Birthday Party for my daughter. She will be turning two years old. It’s the first birthday we will be celebrating with her. I went to a Party Store the other day just to browse and goodness gracious I had no idea how extravagant one can get with birthday stuff. There were several themes, gadgets, decorations, coordinating dinnerware and party favors. I see a piñata and think ohhh that would be fun…but she is only two.

That seems to be the saving grace. God help me next year. It’s so easy to... more

Adoption Reminders In The Summer

It's summertime and we are having a blast! We have had visits from family and we are planning a two week vacation in just a few more weeks. Everyday has been exciting. My kids have been playing with proverbial wild, reckless abandon. Yesterday they all tore into the house yelling that they are having the best summer ever (they say that every summer). Still, it's always fun to pretend it's the first time I have heard them say that. Sometimes, I wonder about what is going inside of all of their heads from day to day. Are they thinking about being adopted? Are they thinking about... more

Fixating on Mother's Day.

Categories: Mother's Day

Everyone has moved on from Mother's Day, but I am still stuck. As with all things weird about me, I chalk up that kind of stuff to some Freudian dynamic or another. Freudian explanations of the weird are even weirder and so somehow it all makes perfect sense. I love the efficiency of that!

Freud would say that I am fixated at some earlier stage of psychosexual development. Now don't be so quick to dismiss this psychobabble as, well, psychobabble. Instead,... more

Let's Make Every Day Mother's Day!

I know it's just a thought and it will never happen, but, really now, dontcha think that every day should be Mother's Day? Wouldn't it be great if we honored mothers and were honored as mothers 365 days a year? I wanted to join in along with all the other bloggers and write something beautiful and moving on Mother's Day, but it seemed that they all covered my sentiments exactly and anything I might share would be redundant.

Like many other mothers around the country I had a wonderful day full of gifts and cards and phone calls and emails and a delicious meal.... more
